  • About

The MaaS Scotland Annual Conference and Dinner brings together representatives from across Scotland, the UK and Europe to discuss recent developments and projects in the area of Mobility as a Service. Now in its seventh year, the event has established itself as the largest dedicated MaaS event in the UK and attracts delegates from across the MaaS supply chain, from technology providers and systems integrators to transport operators and regional and national transport authorities.

This year’s conference comes at a crucial time for MaaS development in Scotland. With the MaaS Investment Fund programme nearing an end, we must look to the future, assessing what has been gained from the programme and coming together as a community to ensure that MaaS becomes a key part of our transport future. As well as providing an opportunity to hear more about MaaS deployments across Scotland and further afield, the conference will also explore some of the key challenges and enablers of MaaS, discussing areas such as behavioural change, governance, business models and success measurement.

At the end of the day’s proceedings we invite attendees to join us for an evening drinks reception and dinner. This will be an opportunity to continue discussions from throughout the day, developing ideas and creating new contacts in a more casual environment.

Bettina Sizeland

I recently joined Transport Scotland as Director for Bus, Accessibility and Active Travel (BAAT), having previously worked for the Scottish Government as Deputy Director for Culture and Historic Environment and before that, as Deputy Director for Tourism and Major Events.

I’m a chartered civil engineer and hold an MBA. Before my time in the Scottish Government, I worked for ten years overseas in Africa and Asia as an engineering adviser for the Department for International Development. Here, I worked on transport, water and building projects – working with communities to build roads, paths and bridges in Nepal, water points across East Africa and rebuild villages after the war in Mozambique.

Closer to home, I’ve been part of projects such Edinburgh’s Usher Hall and Kings theatre refurbishment, Wester Hailes master planning,  Edinburgh City Centre redevelopment, NHS asset management and eHealth development.

As Director for BAAT, I oversee the delivery of an ambitious policy agenda, working with delivery partners to improve sustainable, accessible transport options and get the travelling public back to buses, walking, cycling and wheeling. My Directorate also operates concessionary travel schemes for disabled, older and young people and we’re working with operators to ensure all journeys on Scotland’s bus, rail, ferry, subway and tram networks can be ticketed or paid for using smart technologies.

Hattie James

Having obtained my MSc in Transport and Intelligent Mobility from the University of Aberdeen, I now work at SEStran working on a number of initiatives not least the GoSEStran MaaS/DRT project.

Siobhan Eke

Passionate about our planet and people, my career has always been mission-driven.

Lifelong ‘purpose driven professional’ and adventurer, I’m lucky to have worked with some great organisations to drive positive change. I love working with many Scottish clients to support their work towards net zero carbon commuting, including the RTPs, many NHS organisations, universities, colleges, local authorities and large employers.

Liftshare has taken off one billion miles off the road, that’s from here to Mars and back.

And our sister brand MobilityWays gives you the tools to generate the data so you can make strategic, SMART decisions to measure, reduce and report your organisation’s commuter carbon emissions, showing you the ‘art of the possible’ in getting a greener commute.

Once you have the data you can understand who can travel sustainably through active travel, car share, public transporting, as well as working from home. We can then measure your organisation’s commuting emissions and help you plan your road to net zero.

Before Covid 5% of all UK emissions came from the commute. Sustainable commuting helps our planet, and the people: we are happier, healthier, save money, and reduce transport poverty, getting people and businesses to places they might not have been able to reach without our help.
